Cost, statement value, and market value are different facts
Keeping investment value types separate makes performance and net-worth summaries easier to verify.
Investment records can contain what you paid, what a statement reported, and what a source-backed market observation estimated on another date.
Preserve the valuation basis
Each amount should retain its currency, date, price convention, and source so one value is never silently substituted for another.
Cost is acquisition evidence.
Statement value is a dated provider fact.
